$338 million Powerball winner owes $29,000 in back child support

Raising a child nowadays is not an inexpensive venture, to say the least. Children at the very least require food and clothing and a roof over their heads. Add to that academic and extracurricular activities and their associated fees along with entertainment expenses, and you can get an idea of how much money is required to bring a child up in San Antonio. When one parent does not contribute his or her own fair share to the raising of the child, it can really put a strain on the other parent and make the child suffer.

One man that apparently wasn't pulling his weight with child support payments of at least one of his children should have no excuse now. He recently won a $338 million Powerball jackpot. The man, who was raised in the Dominican Republic, has five children that range in age from 5 to 23.

The mother of at least one of the children has yet to receive $29,000 in child support that has accrued since 2009. Before the man can receive his winnings, the state will take what he owes plus a 9% annual interest charge from the jackpot and give it to the woman.

He may also be subject to higher child support payments in the future as a result of his big win. The mothers of his children may wish to speak with an attorney to help ensure that their children receive what is rightfully theirs so that they can provide for them now and in the future.
