Authorities in Texas arrest 6 in delinquent child support sweep

The state of Texas is cracking down on deadbeat parents who don't pay their child support. Authorities are concerned with the fact that when one parent does not hold up his or her end of the bargain, the child is forced to go without. That means less resources for a child to take advantage of as they grow. When the child's needs are not met, it can affect not only the child, but the community as a whole.

It is for these reasons that authorities in Texas have initiated a search for parents who owe child support and are currently in contempt of court for not paying it. They are asking parents with child support warrants to report their case to the proper authorities so they can handle them as part of their sweep.

Authorities recently arrested six men aging in range from 26- to 54-years-old. The men were all taken to jail. Two of them posted bond and were released. The others may be in jail for up to six months if they do not post bond. The funds received from the bonds are given to the parents to whom child support is owed.

If you are a parent who has not received child support that is owed to you, you may wish to contact a lawyer to discuss your case. Doing so can help you provide the necessities of life for your child and ensure that he or she is taken care of now and in the future.
