It seems like every time you turn around in San Antonio, another celebrity is being accused of fathering someone’s child. Many of these are unsubstantiated claims related to paternity issues by people looking for their 15 minutes of fame or to get money, but some are genuine and deserve to be heard out.
Whether this is the case for a woman who claims to have given birth to basketball legend Michael Jordan’s son remains to be seen. The boy whose paternity is in question is now 16-years-old and would have been conceived while Jordan was still married to Juanita Vanoy in 1995. The boy, who claims to have met Jordan, has even gone as far as to make a video and place it on the internet. In the recording he makes a plea to Jordan to make it known that he is the boy’s father.
The boy’s mother says that she would like her son’s last name legally changed to Jordan and has filed a lawsuit in order to collect child support and medical bills. Although Jordan’s representative would not comment on the case, the woman claims that she would welcome the opportunity for Jordan to take a paternity test. Only the coming weeks will tell if that will happen.
For now, Jordan would do well to seek the help of a lawyer who can advise him on the best way to proceed with this lawsuit that has been levied against him. It can be a sticky subject and one that may be best handled by an attorney who has handled paternity cases in the past.
