Father ordered to pay over a million in back child support

In Texas and the rest of the United States, raising children doesn't come cheaply. Food, clothing, shelter are just the necessities that can pack price tags that really add up over the 18 years you are responsible for them. Never mind the "extras" like Christmas and birthday gifts, music lessons, academic tutoring, sporting activities and other extracurricular activities, vacations and more.

Since a child relies so heavily on his or her parents to provide these things, it can put a lot of pressure on the two of them. This pressure gets even heavier when one parent decides to drop his or her end of the child support bargain and not contribute financially to the upbringing of the child.

This was the case for one man who actually left the country to avoid paying child support. He lived in Thailand for nearly a decade while he had three arrest warrants on his head here in the U.S. Meanwhile, his two former wives and three children were forced to make do with what they had. They will now be repaid for all those years they went without.

The man was arrested when he tried to enter the Philippines last fall. He was recently ordered to pay over a million dollars in child support after pleading guilty to failing to pay it. He will also spend to 2 years and 7 months behind bars for escaping child support payments.

If you are not getting the child support you should, you may wish to speak with an attorney. A lawyer may be able to help you get the money you have coming to you.
