Major League Baseball star facing support and custody fight

Child support can often be a very unpleasant battle when a couple decides to split up, whether they are married or not. Unfortunately it is also a battle that can go on for years when parents don’t see eye to eye. When people in San Antonio who are dealing with child support issues can’t resolve their differences, they might end up in court.

Major League Baseball star Robinson Cano is involved in an ongoing child custody and support battle. At issue is his 3-year-old son who lives with his mother in the Dominican Republic. According to the boy’s mom Mr. Cano does not actively participate in his son’s life. She also claims that the New York Yankee second baseman only pays about $500 and $600 of monthly child support.

The boy’s mother also claims that an attorney who represents Mr. Cano tried to offer her a 10-year child support agreement earlier this year, which she refused. Mr. Cano claims that he is paying the amount that was agreed upon. However, Mr. Cano made $15 million this year and he is also about to hit the free agent market where he is expected to command a huge long-term contract. The boy’s mother says that the boy deserves “to live like Cano’s son.”

Ultimately it will be up to a judge to decide if Mr. Cano is responsible to pay more in child support to his son and the boy’s mother. These cases can often be difficult and can bring out many strong emotions. Having an experienced child support attorney on a person’s side can make a big difference in how his or her case turns out.
