Young boy found safe but now facing custody battle

Child custody battles can be one of the most emotional and sensitive situations that a family can face. It is always difficult to decide the fate of a child when a San Antonio couple decides to split up. However, it is important for all of the parties involved to keep the best interest of the children as the top priority.

An 11-year-old boy is facing the prospect of a long custody battle between his father and mother who live in different countries. The young boy from Cleveland Ohio was recently reported missing when his non-custodial father took him from school without permission. He was found safe, however he was also close to 1,500 miles away from his home at the Mexican Consulate in San Antonio, Texas.

The man and his son made the trip from Cleveland to San Antonio in less than 30 hours. It was not reported whether or not the father planned to cross the border with the boy or if authorities detained them before he attempted to cross. The boy’s father lives in Mexico, while his mother lives in Cleveland. At this time the boy’s mother does have legal custody of the boy but his father has also filed for custody. According to authorities the civil matter will be decided in the Mexican court.

When a couple with children decides to split up and they can’t resolve their custody wishes civilly, then the issue will most likely to go court to be determined by a judge. That’s when it becomes so important for a person in this situation to have the proper legal representation in his or her corner.
