Although no one in the San Antonio area, or anywhere else, ever gets married with a plan to eventually split up the fact remains that about half of all marriages end in divorce. Divorce can be very difficult for those involved, as so many things have to be sorted out, including property division, and for those with children, custody and child support issues.
People choose to divorce for many different reasons. However, not everyone who divorces ends up any happier after they separate than they were before getting divorced. In fact, many people who divorce end up having a lot of regrets. According to a new survey from the U.K. the biggest regret divorced couples’ have is the impact their decision has on their children. Another common regret was the financial impact divorce had on their lives.
Many couples mentioned that they noticed negative changes in their children after divorce, including emotional damage as well as a decline in their school performance. According to one clinical psychologist, parents can help their children transition through divorce by constantly being there for them to help guide them through the process. If they fail to meet their needs, especially younger children, the transition will be much harder.
Obviously divorce can have many consequences. Not all of them are negative, but every case is different. If a person in the San Antonio area is considering divorce then meeting with an experienced divorce attorney may be the best step he or she can take to begin the process.
