Despite payment, man order to jail over child support issue

Most of the time when a person in the San Antonio area is facing any kind of child support problem it’s because a parent is not living up to his or her obligations. However, sometimes even when a parent who is obligated to pay child support is doing everything in his or her power to meet those expectations, he or she could still be facing child support issues.

A Texas man is facing jail time because of a child support claim. However, in an unusual twist the 43-year-old man has not been sentenced to prison because he failed to pay his child support, but rather because he says he overpaid. According to court papers the man was sentenced to jail because he has been seeing his 11-year-old son too much and because he paid too much in child support.

The trouble began when a judge ruled that the man was in contempt of the court for making inconsistent child support payments. He claims that the state did not inform his employer that the payment had increased and that once he was aware of the situation he paid more than what was required.

When a person has been falsely accused of skipping out on his or her child support obligations, it can be a difficult situation to be in. Likewise, when a person has paid his or her child support but the custodial parent is trying to get more it can also be tough for the non-custodial parent. Anyone who is facing this kind of situation should probably seek the help of an experienced child support lawyer.
