When a couple in the San Antonio area decides to split up they have to deal with many different issues. If the couple has any children, then the biggest issue they will have to resolve will typically be child custody and child support decisions. This can be very difficult when one of the parents is ordered to pay monthly child support payments to the custodial parent.
Authorities have arrested a man who was wanted for failing to make child support payments, and who has apparently been evading authorities for years. According to court documents, officials recently arrested the man because he allegedly owes more than $550,000 in back child support payments. Reportedly, he had been in hiding for more than five years. Officers apparently made the arrest after receiving a tip as to the man’s whereabouts.
According to court papers, officials had issued an arrest warrant for the man clear back in 2008, but he had allegedly avoided being taken into custody since that time. Authorities say that the 52-year-old man owes $555,876 in overdue child support payments for three children. The man did post a cash bond and was released. He was due back in court in early April.
It will be interesting to see what happens in this case going forward, including whether or not this man has the financial means to pay the money that he owes. Meantime, if you are dealing with a child support battle of any kind, then you should probably seek the help of an experienced family law attorney.
