Judge orders Guy Ritchie to return son to ex-wife Madonna

Child custody agreements in San Antonio are typically always structured with the best interests of the children involved in mind. Often times, it may be difficult for children to express their opinions during divorce proceedings for fear of alienating a parent that they love dearly. Or they may simply be too young to comprehend the situation entirely. However, with the passage of time, and as they grow more accustomed to their new family environment, they may feel more inclined to make their feelings known. They may even wish to have the terms of their parents’ custody agreement revisited.

Such appears to be the case with the son of Madonna and her ex-husband, director Guy Ritchie. The couple has been divorced since 2008. According to Ritchie’s lawyer, the boy, now 15, has expressed that he wishes to remain in London with his father, despite the fact that he is scheduled to return to his mother in New York.

The family court judge presiding over the case has asked that Ritchie return the teen to New York so that he can speak with his mother about the situation. He will then be granted a court-appointed attorney to review his wishes with the court and propose any changes to his current parental situation.

Custody issues such as these may be difficult for both sides, for as one wants his or her child’s wishes to be respected, the other may fear that the child is being manipulated. In either case, parents should be prepared to fight for their own parental interests, while also anticipating that the court will place great emphasis on what the child wants. A good family law attorney may be of great assistance in preparing and dealing with whatever outcome is reached.
