Can a truck’s blind spot be reduced?

One of the problems for large trucks driving down Texas highways is that they have a larger blind spot than many other vehicles. Cars that drive into these blind spots are at major risk for collisions and auto accidents. While truck blind spots cannot be fully eliminated, there are ways that truck drivers can minimize their vehicle's blind spots.

Trucker hours-of-service regulations explained

Truck drivers are not the only ones at risk in accidents involving semi-trucks and tractor trailers in San Antonio. Due to the massive size of these vehicles, the drivers of the smaller vehicles they collide with often face greater danger. Indeed, information shared by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety shows that, of the 3,986 people killed in large truck accidents in 2016, 66 percent were occupants of passenger vehicles. Truckers may not always appreciate just how much their actions can put others at risk. This may allow them to do things that, while seemingly benign in others lines of work, can actually cause great danger.

If the accidents involving semi-trucks that are known to occur in or around San Antonio are known for one thing, it is devastation. These massive vehicles have such destructive potential due to their size that one can almost assume there will be serious injuries to their drivers or the occupants of the vehicles they collide with. For such harm not to occur in such an accident may certainly come as a pleasant surprise.

Connecting vicarious liability to truck accidents

If you are involved in any accident in San Antonio, then you may think that you do not have to look beyond the person who caused it to assign liability. In most cases, you would likely be correct. However, many of the clients that we here at The Law Office of Roland R. Esparza, P.C. have worked with in the past have come to us with stories detailing how the actions of third parties contributed to their accidents. Oftentimes, that third part is an employer who is either ignoring the negligent action of an employee, or pushing said employee to the point of committing egregious errors. It is in these scenarios when the concept of vicarious liability comes into play.
